One of the time-honored pursuits of fantasy adventurers has been the accumulation of wealth. Whether it is for a sense of self-fulfilment, a lever for political power, or a means by which they seek to improve the world, goods and money are often a central driving force in fantasy. Smaug sleeps on his precious metals and Farmer Maggot protectively tends his crops. We’d like to expand the options available to you, the players, to gain wealth within Solitude.
However, we are also sensitive to the fact that other games have made economies an unfun concept for some. Therefore, we want to underline that participation in the Economy system is not necessary for your character to use abilities, eat or drink in-game, wear certain costuming choices, or participate in combat. It should not limit your personal choice on how to play your character in any way. Instead, the system serves two purposes - a kind of scorecard where players can brag about their possessions and an avenue to allow experienced players to influence the game at a grand scale.
